As your Phoenix by SFSaid example shows, recently illustration is spilling into more and more YA. Tinder by Sally Gardner and illustrated by David Roberts, A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness and illustrated by Jim Kay are fine examples of how pictures add to the story and connect the reader to some difficult themes.
